Kate & Eric are Married! 08.01.2009
Eric was the one who contacted me a few months ago, looking for someone to help him and Kate pull everything together so they were ready for the wedding, and make sure it all went off without a hitch on the big day. The timeline helped ease a lot of the nerves that everything would work out, as I went back and forth with Kate on the order of events, of people (ceremony logistics) and of setup!
We started the day at St. Francis of Assisi in Ann Arbor, where I made sure all the girls were ready to go (and had enough tissue for the crying that started before the wedding did!). The guys arrived about 45 minutes prior to the ceremony start, and I pinned on all the bouts for them, ushers, readers, dads and grandpa. About half way through pinning, I realized that there was no groom’s boutonniere! My assistant Gene called Tom Thompson (the florist) and made sure they would bring a new one before Eric had to walk down the aisle, which they did with time to spare!
As soon as Kate walked down the aisle, we placed the bouquet boxes in her parents’ car to ensure the flowers would stay fresh by keeping them in water during transport. From there, we headed to the Polo Fields to get everything set up! Their candybuffet was a huge hit, and anything that was left at the end of the night we packaged into the takeout boxes for people to bring with them!
Another assembly item was their 3 place card trees, which were filled to the brim since Kate made one per person rather than per couple - it was very impressive looking! Each card also used a blue, green or clear rhinestone to distinguish what meal choice that guest was having.
The photographer was Marcin Harla, someone I have always wanted to work with! I am excited to see the pictures that he and his wife captured throughout the day! Their cake was brought in from Jefferson Market and Cakery, which was sliced and placed next to the candy buffet later in the evening. This allowed guests to choose between chocolate, carrot, and lemon!
The most impressive part of the evening, in my opinion, was the band. Chateau did an amazing job, keeping the dance floor JAM PACKED from the time they started playing until they ended 15 minutes later than scheduled at 11:15pm. There was honestly not one song where you could see the dance floor, and their range was outstanding (country, oldies, hip hop, rock - they did it all!). They were also wonderful to work with, and we made sure that the evening flowed very smoothly!
Congratulations on a beautiful wedding Kate and Eric - it was so much fun working with you both!
