The best favors are those that guests will actually use, and want to take away from your shower or wedding. The last thing anyone wants is to be stuck with 100 unusable items at the end of the night… The lip balm favors above will quickly be placed into guests’ purses - and are especially appropriate now that winter is attacking us head on! For more great favor ideas, visit my shop. Happy hunting!

Sunday through Monday of this week, I was in Newport Beach, CA for the annual Association of Bridal Consultants convention. One of the evening activities was an off-site event at the Westin for a winter white gala - La Couleur Blanche. At the event was none other than Colin Cowie, and I had the privilege of meeting him! He is just amazing, and his work of course speaks for itself. He spoke the following day at lunch as well, which I will blog about tomorrow - so inspirational!
The calla lilies in the top left photo below looked phenomenal in person, very fitting for the ambiance throughout the room. Typically an elegant and traditional flower, they definitely put a spin on things with that sculpture!

When you think favors, you might just think of the wedding day itself. However, bridal showers are also huge for giving thanks to the people who have showed up to celebrate the upcoming big day by showering you with gifts! I have just opened up a Favor Shop and will be featuring one favor from the shop each week to help inspire you toward the perfect favor for your wedding or shower! Several other life events are also featured on the site, so be sure to check it out!
I love the above favor, a purse holder that can attach to any table anywhere. How many times have you gone out to eat and found nowhere but the floor or your lap to put your purse? I doubt anyone would leave these favors on the table at the end of the event!

During the planning process, Angela and Mike wanted to find a church that would allow them to bring in their own pastor, Steve Hurst (who was so nice to work with!). They ended up at the First Congregational Church of Detroit. It is a beautiful church, and the staff there were very helpful throughout the rehearsal and wedding. The day of the wedding it was rainy and traffic was backed up - so guests arrived late as did the florist (by an hour!). Needless to say, the ceremony did not start on time but it did flow very smoothly!
I had the privilege to work with Amanda Williams again, which is always a great time! She sent me the above photo as a teaser - and I can’t wait to see how all the others turned out! Amanda always goes above and beyond for her weddings. Angela and Mike used Visual Inspirations as their videographer - great people to work with, so now I am excited to see the video!

The reception was held at Crystal Gardens in Southgate. Angela loved the above look for her head table, and it definitely added a lot to the room! Her colors were black and white, with a hint of very pale pink in the roses used for the bouquets. Maya from Sposa Seating provided the chair covers.

One of the greatest moments of the evening occurred when Dal Bouey stepped on stage and started to sing. She has an absolutely amazing voice and puts on quite the performance with her dancers/musicians! I would highly recommend them for anyone who wants their music to be a big part of the evening and not just an accent piece - they are incredibly entertaining!

The cake creator was Cakes by Stephanie, definitely a favorite of mine! It was served with ice cream to the guests, and a late night pizza was brought out as well for those craving something a bit more greasy… Prior to leaving, my assistants and I packed up Angela’s personal items and put it all on the gift table, making it very easy for packing up at the end of the night. I also brought Angela’s bouquet with me, as she will be using Curly Art (betty@curly-art.com) for bouquet and invitation preservation!

Of course I had to get the ring shot as well - and the jordan almonds made for a fun twist on the usual! Angela and Mike - congratulations on a beautiful wedding, and the best of luck and happiness in the future!!!
