Krissy & Scott were married on December 11th at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Ann Arbor - and what a crazy day for a wedding! At the time of booking, we did not realize the Big Chill had been scheduled on that day, so a lot of planning had to go into making it as easy as possible for guests to get around! Aristocat Limousine played a huge part in Krissy & Scott getting around successfully. It all worked out wonderfully in the end, and they had an amazing wedding day.

In between the ceremony (1:30-2:30pm) and reception (5pm), guests headed to the Campus Inn for drinks and mingling, or walked around downtown. My assistants had been at the University of Michigan Museum of Art to assist in setup while I was still at the church making sure everything got out, the photographers got the pictures they needed, and some additional wine for the reception was loaded into my car.

The UMMA is an absolutely gorgeous venue for a wedding, but does pose some challenges! Loading is tricky, and I had to get a loading schedule to facilities manager Bruce Glayzer so he knew when the various wedding professionals would be in and out (Bruce is fantastic to work with). There are also two doors to get into the Apse, one of which must be closed at all times to ensure the safety of the art work!

Needless to say, the evening required a lot of teamwork, and everyone did just that. It was a wonderfully smooth event, between the Moveable Feast caterers, Bill Hamilton Designs’ beautiful arrangements, my team setting up the linens, napkins, donation cards, table numbers and other items, and the UMMA security staff. Most importantly - Krissy and Scott loved it and had a great time!

Cocktail hour in the Forum is a wonderful option at UMMA - it allows more time for setup in the Apse (where the dining and reception takes place) and allows for additional room to have a photo booth (the Traveling Photo Booth was in the corner by the doors here), late night snacks or dessert, sitting areas for guests to get away, and even a lounge area.

It was wonderful working with A Girl In Love Photography for the first time - Melissa is so much fun! I can’t wait to see her pictures! In lieu of a videographer, Krissy and Scott rented Wedit cameras and had their guests shoot the footage, which will now be edited by the Wedit team and turned into their wedding film!

At the end of the night, we brought the gifts, cards and other personal items to Krissy and Scott’s room at the Campus Inn, and made sure everything got cleaned up and packed up! We delivered flowers the next morning for their brunch as well as a few other items that had been left the night before. It was so much fun to be a part of Krissy and Scott’s wedding planning over the past few months, and to see it all come together so beautifully on their wedding day!
