Jackie and Adam 12.19.2008

We started out the day on December 19th hoping that everything would turn out well despite the massive amount of snow that had fallen that morning (8-10 inches!). We left from Ann Arbor very early to pick up one of the bridesmaids, who also baked the wedding cake! After helping set up the cake and making sure the room at Orlando Familia in Riverview looked as it should for the reception that night, we headed back to Jackie’s home to pick up the remaining items for the church. This included the DIY bouquets and bouts that Jackie and the bridesmaids had put together, as well as the attire for one of the girls who had not yet made it in from Louisiana due to storms and re-routing…

Jackie and Adam were married at St. Francis Cabrini in Allen Park, MI. It was a beautiful service, they are an amazing couple together and their excitement at starting this new chapter in their lives was evident throughout the day! The re-routed bridesmaid did miss the ceremony, but my husband (who acted as my assistant) picked her up from the airport and had her to the church just on time to apply some emergency makeup (all those samples came in handy!) and get her to the formal pictures at the end. Photography was done by Jen from Amanda Williams Photography – and I can never say enough about how much I love to work with them!

The grand entrance happened a bit later than planned, which pushed back dinner a bit beyond the comfort level of the hall. Not much you can do when a whole section of the bridal party is missing though – one reason why group transportation is a plus. The DJ they used was not used to working with a planner, which did cause some delays as well. For example, when I told him we were ready for the first dance after the next song, he did not take my word for it. Instead, he stopped the music and asked the hall to dim the lights (which I had already done) and made sure everyone was ready (which I had already done). He also played one of the do not play songs, and after the garter and bouquet toss, he had the guy who caught the garter put it on the bouquet-catcher which was specifically asked not to do.

Other than those few hiccups though, it was a beautiful day. Jackie and her bridesmaids did a phenomenal job decorating the room, putting together all the flowers, baking the cake, and making sure to have a great time at the reception. The room was perfect for a mid-December wedding. The dance floor was packed, the food was good, and Jackie and Adam made the most adorable couple!

Congratulations you two on your wedding day, it was so great to work with you! I hope your honeymoon in Jamaica was fabulous, and that every day is happier than the day before!
