Julie and Ron are Married! 02.09.13

Julie and Ron were married on February 9th at Bethany Bible Church in Belleville, with a reception at Mediterrano in Ann Arbor.

Their wedding was small and intimate, and everyone their was so happy to see them get married and were full of wonderful stories of how they met.

I started the day picking up items from the rental company and then headed to Mediterrano to begin the set up. For decor we did chair covers and sashes from Chair Covers and Linen, votives, and sprinkled rose petals on each table. We set out the place cards and favors and then left to go to the ceremony for last minute touches that needed to be done.

Garden Fantasy supplied all the floral for the day and the tulips were gorgeous for centerpieces. It really made the room come together. Gwen Bakery and Cakes did the wedding cake and everyone said it was one of the best cakes they had tasted.

At the church we did a last minute rehearsal and then I went to find Juli and see if she needed anything from our emergency kit. Julie looked so beautiful and was full of smiles and asking how Ron was doing.

My favorite moment was seeing how excited they both were and how much they just wanted to get married so they could start life together as husband and wife. It reminded me of why I wanted to be wedding planner in the first place. Right before everyone walked down the aisle I pinned on boutonnieres and handed out the bouquets.

I left the ceremony before it was over to get the reception to finish last minute details, and was surprised to see that the staff at Mediterrano had finished the last minute things for me. If you ever need a place for a small ( 50 or less)  party they are so fabulous here. The food was delicious and they just really cared about making sure that everything was perfect.

Congratulations to Julie and Ron! Thanks for letting us be a part of your special day!

Brooke & Antonio are Married! 09.01.2012

Brooke and Antonio’s ceremony and reception was held at the beautiful Grand Rapid Art Museum on September 1, 2012.

While our team was putting together the final touches to the decor, Brooke was adding the final touches to her gorgeous look. Ashley Avila was there to captured it all.

Antonio came dapper dressed and ready so he was able to just sit back and relax with his groomsmen.

The ceremony was held in the gorgeous Cook Auditorium. We lined the isle with clear chivari chairs and pink rose balls.

For the rest of the seating, we used the Auditorium’s clear chairs and laid programs down for guest. Everything looked perfect especially the new couple.

After the ceremony, guest went out onto the Outdoor Terrace for cocktail hour.

Meanwhile, the bridal party went around the downtown area for pictures and captured some lovely shots of the Mr & Mrs.

Afterwards, the reception began in the Wege Pavilion. We added a mix of square and round tables to compliment the unique space.

Guest were able to sign the guest book and find their seats using the seating chart which is always beneficial for large parties.

Brooke had custom designed black cut-out runners to add a bit of boldness to the soft pink color pallet.

A similar design was incorporated in the her cake; so pretty!

It was so much fun working with this couple and their amazing family. We wish them all the best!

Team of Professionals:

Juli & Dave are Married! 01.19.2013

Do you dream of a winter wedding? Our super adorable couple Juli and Dave did, and on
January 19th they said their I Do’s at Cobblestone Farms.

The day was beautiful, we had a heat wave of 40 degrees that day. The only sad thing about this was that our bride really wanted snow! Unfortunately, we love to be able to make dreams happen but we have no control over the weather or we would have ordered it right up.

We were actually quite lucky and we were able to get in the day before to do a lot of the set up. We had chair covers to put on, and sashes to tie from Chair Covers and Linen , a candy bar to set up, and we helped Juli assemble her very creative centerpieces.

Their ceremony and reception were both in the barn at Cobblestone. Guests were sat at their tables, with the exception of a VIP section for those involved in their Jewish wedding ceremony. Everyone was quite surprised with the ring bearer, which was a remote control Lamborghini that was hidden until it was time to come down the aisle by one of the groomsmen.

After the ceremony, guests dined on appetizers by Katherine’s Catering. We can’t tell you enough how fabulous their staff is. I can’t wait to work with them again! Dinner consisted of food stations set up around the room so guests could choose what they wanted to eat. Music was proved by Mike Staff Productions.

Juli’s friend made the amazing cake, and her sister’s boyfriend contributed 60 pounds of German candy to their extensive candy buffet – everyone’s sweet tooth was satisfied! Juli also made sure to have a craft station set up upstairs for guests to create a scrapbook page that she is going to put together into a book later on.

What could be more romantic than ending your special night with a horse drawn carriage provided by Pinecrest Percherons and Carriage Service. We helped bundle them up and thanks to Katherine’s who had to go cups we were able to send them off with some hot chocolate. This was my favorite part of their wedding. Everyone came outside on the ramp and said goodbye and cheered as they drove away! There was a lot of love there that night.

We will definitely miss Juli and Dave, congratulations you two!

Ashley & Brent are Married! 09.01.2012

Ashley & Brent were married on September 1st of this year at Ashley’s mom and step-dad’s home in Dexter, MI. It was a gorgeous day for an outside ceremony and barn reception!

They had me out the winter before to take a look and see if it would even be feasible to host the wedding on the property – and through the packed, dirty barn I saw what could be an absolutely stunning venue! Using measurements they gave me of the barn we figured out the maximum capacity in the space, and Ashley & Brent finalized the guest list and started planning from there.

As much as they wanted help with the logistics, Ashley and her mom also wanted to do a lot of DIY projects, and they did a fantastic job. Cute, personal touches were spread throughout the wedding, from custom playing cards to pinwheel bouquets to a cake stand made from a tree that had fallen in the Dexter tornado.

Kristen, Kaeli, Nick and Alexy were the on-site team the day of the wedding, and they made sure it all went off smoothly and stress free for everyone. Ashley & Brent were married in front of two ladders in their yard that had been attached together to form an arch.

Dinner was catered by Moveable Feast and went wonderfully, followed by pies from the Grand Traverse Pie Co. and a wedding cake from Jefferson Market. Music requests were sent via pulley to the second floor of the barn where Sara from Platinum Mix was stationed, and the lighting from Quest Productions looked amazing in the space.

Other wedding professionals that made Ashley & Brent’s wedding so spectacular include StudiOsnap Photography, who took the amazing pictures you see here, as well as Chair Covers & Linens, and Dexter Flowers.

Congratulations to you both, we wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Erica & Trevor are Married! 10.06.2012

I had the pleasure of working with this lovely couple who had such a sweet family. They had a beautiful fall wedding in Ann Arbor, MI. Kelly from Kelly Braman Photography was there to capture it all.

The day started at the Sheraton Hotel where the bridal party were getting ready and the reception was to take place later that evening.

They decided to get pictures of the bridal party before the ceremony. This is great way to save time on pictures after the ceremony since there is usually more of a time crunch between then and the reception.

Lynn from Clever Bumblebee Creations did a beautiful job on the flowers. I loved the bouquets.

Their wedding was held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.

After the ceremony, guest were invited to cocktail hour in the lobby area right outside of the reception doors.

A close relative of the bride’s family created this gorgeous candy buffet complementing their decor color palette.

During cocktail hour, the couple had a chance to steal away for pictures. They also took shots of the whole party together. Don’t you just love the colors of the leaves during Michigan Fall season….so pretty.

After cocktail hour, Erica and Trevor had their grand entrance and cut their cake. Gwen’s Cakes matched the flowers on the cake to the bouquets perfectly.

Shortly after dinner, Jane from Mike Staff Productions got everyone on the dance floor.

Guest were invited to Rock The Booth in the photo booth as an additional take-home favor. After the reception, we packed up all their gifts, cards, and belongings to go to their rooms. A perfect night for a perfect couple!

Congratulations Erica and Trevor!

Erin & Tim are Married! 10.20.2012

Erin and Tim were married at the gorgeous Fox Hills by the wonderful Reverend O’Grady. It was a little cold outside for the ceremony but Erin bought some pashminas to keep the ladies warm while being outside. They also rented space heaters for the guests.

Rondo String Quartet played beautiful music for the ceremony and cocktail hour. Cocktail hour was meant to be outside on the porch but even with the rented space heaters it was too cold.

Wedding flowers by Heidi did all of the decor. She was also a guest that evening so we got to help with some last minute touches so she could go and get ready.

The room looked complete thanks to Chivari Chair Rental. The chairs went perfectly with her romantic look.

My favorite thing from this wedding was their dessert table. Heidi added some drapery to a wall that Erin and Tim didn’t like and created the table design to go with the fall theme they had in mind. Then we put out all the cupcakes, pies, and donuts to create the perfect dessert table.

Randy from Mike Staff Productions (who we love) was the DJ for the night. He is a wonderful and up beat DJ, and he definitely keeps the party going!

Marcus Shawn was the photographer that day, we can’t wait to see the pictures he took!

One thing we love to do is to use pieces from the ceremony for the reception if we can. Heidi had these amazing tall pillar vases that we had lined down the aisle so we reused them going down the hall to the ballroom and they added lighting to the hallway.

Everything about this wedding was romantic and beautiful. Erin made a beautiful bride and Tim was the happiest man in the room.

Congratulations to you both!

Marcey & Don are Married! 09.29.2012

Marcey & Don were married on September 29th at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, MI. It was a beautiful and intimate ceremony with a guest list of 40 of their closest family and friends. Kristen and I were so thrilled to be a part of such a beautiful wedding! You can see more of their beautiful pictures here.

I helped Marcey out with a lot of the wedding plans, including finding her venues and wedding professionals to work with, and Kristen was there to coordinate her wedding day. It all went wonderfully!

Marcey & Don took pictures around Ann Arbor, including Graffiti Alley, after the ceremony before heading to the Gandy Dancer for their reception.

Their photographer, Amy Carroll, wrote on her blog that “The reception at Gandy Dancer afterward pampered their guests with delish food and some of the best cheesecake I’ve had in quite  some time.

One of my favorite elements of the reception was the personalized letter coasters they had made for each guest..myself included!  The personalization they put into the day shows their hearts for their friends and family and the gratitude they had for all who joined in such a sweet celebration.”

Bill Hamilton Designs did a beautiful job on the floral pieces for the wedding and reception, as well as all the personal flowers.

One of my favorite things about Gandy Dancer weddings is that guests get to choose their meal the day of the wedding from a limited menu. So much more elegant and personal than a buffet or ordering food two months before hand!

Other wedding professionals they worked with include Chair Covers & Linens, Shane Tincu Films, Father Don Devine, and Arbor String Ensemble.

Congratulations you two on a fabulous wedding day!

Laura & Steve are Married! 09.29.2012

Great Gatsby was the theme and Earhart Manor was the place that Laura and Steve were married on September 29th. This couple’s vision was so exact, and with the help of Wedding Flowers by Heidi and the staff at Concordia and Sodexo, this wedding was one of the prettiest we have ever done.

You know you have a beautiful wedding when the venue staff can’t stop talking about it. They see weddings in the same place every weekend and soon they all start looking the same to them, but this one definitely stood out.

Laura and Steve did a first look at the manor under a beautiful wooded gazebo while the band (Collision 6) played their first dance song as background music. Jeff from JLB Wedding was there to capture this moment and all the rest from this beautiful wedding.

They were married by their friend Jenna.  Laura looked as if she was skipping down the aisle as Steve waited for her. Panache Entertainment provided the ceremony music. While the bridal party finished up with pictures,  guests dined on fabulous appetizers and drank the signature drinks named after the couple’s dogs.

I think something that was my favorite was their chairs for the reception. They brought them from home and they resembled old king and queen thrones. Everyone loved them and as a bonus they even had vintage goblets to drink out of.

The chairs, linens and chargers were brought in from Chair Covers & Linens, and they made the room look just stunning; exactly as pictured before hand! We placed the tables at an angle in the room so that it would better fill the large tent and provide interest to the space.

Their wedding cake by Sweet Heather Anne will forever be one of my favorites. It was a gorgeous, simple white cake, with a white ribbon cascading down the front of it. Sweet Heather Anne also made macaroons as guest favors; which are so amazing that no one will leave their favor behind.

Collision 6 is an amazing band and the night went by perfectly. This wedding was all about the subtle romantic feeling, and it was accomplished with the help of all these wonderful people mentioned above! Laura and Steve are a couple we will never forget. Congratulations!!

Gloria & Chris are Married! 10.27.2012

We ended our season with a beautiful fall wedding at Wellers in Saline. Gloria and Chris were married on October 27th, outside!

It was a little cold but thankfully the sun was out and it gave us some warmth for the short ceremony given by a close friend and minister.

The family bought pumpkins that we lined the aisle with, and Sue from Passion Flower added tall vases with twigs and candles in them. It really looked gorgeous and was exactly what they were looking for in their ceremony decor.

Passion Flower also did all the decor inside – a beautiful mix of fall and Halloween.

Sweet Heather Anne added the extra touch to this wedding and that had all the guests counting down the minutes until dessert was available.

The made cupcakes that each had some kind of Halloween theme to them, and individually painted all the pumpkins to have different designs on them.

Dinner was amazing – it was a buffet that included parsnips, an amazing pasta dish that a few guests even asked for the recipe for, chicken, and prime rib. They also provided hot mulled cider for guests when they came in from outside to take the chill off.

Dan from Mike Staff Productions was the DJ for the evening. We didn’t know this in the beginning but Gloria and Chris belong to a tango club and a lot of their friends at the wedding were from there. It was fun watching so many people that knew how to tango!

The night was perfect, their guests were ones that made you feel warm and welcomed, and the joy and love you felt in the room was quite moving.

Gloria and Chris had a wonderful start to their marriage and I just know that they will have a wonderful marriage full of love and happiness. Congratulations!

Patty & Rob are Married! 10.20.2012

Patty & Rob were married on October 20th this year at Weber’s Inn in Ann Arbor, MI. Their ceremony was held in the Atrium, which Lisa from Pot & Box created a beautiful backdrop for and chairs were brought in from Chivari Chair Rental. A friend married the couple; the ceremony was very personal and beautiful.

After the ceremony, formal photos were taken and Patty & Rob headed into Ann Arbor with their bridal party for more pictures with Amy Carroll Photography. During that time, we helped the staff at Webers Inn get everything ready for the reception, including beautiful linens from Chair Covers & Linens.

When it was time for guests to enter the ballroom, they were directed to their seats with vintage keys tied to escort cards. Their was an appetizer buffet set up on one side of the room, the bar was open, and Platinum Mix Productions started up the music for the evening.

The vintage colors in the arrangements and the lace overlays complimented each other beautifully in the Webers Inn ballroom. Chivari Chair rental also provided charger plates and candles, as well as manzanita trees for some of the tables.

Later in the evening, Snapfuze brought a photo booth for guests to enjoy, and late night snacks were set out. We moved all of Patty & Rob’s personal items up to their room before taking off for the night, and at 11:30pm the dance floor was still packed!

Congratulations Patty & Rob on a beautiful wedding day, we were so happy to be a part of it!
