Cory & Ian were married on June 15th at the Detroit Athletic Club (DAC) in Detroit, MI. We worked very closely together for a year to make their day a reflection of the two of them, and to make sure their guests (many of whom traveled in from across the country) were entertained!
The DAC is a beautiful venue, and working with Beth was a pleasure – I hope to do many more weddings there! Bellisario did a magnificent job interpreting Cory’s vision into the floral/decor, with the perfect linens from Chair Covers & Linens. A harpist from Panache Entertainment performed the ceremony music, and a family friend officiated.
I was so busy the day of the wedding that I didn’t get finished pictures of the room – notice the votives sitting out on the table above! One of the things we quickly fixed the day of the wedding was table number 14 – it was missing! Fortunately there were extra table numbers, so we copied the number 4, cut it out, and glued it on top of the 7 at table 17 to create the correct table number – and no one knew!
When we arrived, we menu folded the napkins and inserted those at each DAC charger plate, adding a photo card at the top of each setting to let guests know where to look for photos after the wedding – and I can’t wait to see the pictures from Jennifer Grant!
It was our first time working with Ascend Video, so I am also excited to see that come together, and hopefully we can post a trailer for you. The Killer Flamingos did an absolutely terrific job with the music, especially during La Hora Loca when the bridal party ran into the room wearing props and we passed out more to the guests to get crazy on the dance floor! That is a tradition I would love to see come to Michigan…
The cake was created by the DAC, using a mixture of inspirational pictures that Cory had collected. It was cut and served later in the evening since they didn’t do the traditional cutting right away, and gave guests a chance to dance away some of their dinner before dessert!
One thing I just LOVE about the DAC is that they allow rooftop pictures with the bride and groom! It was a beautiful night, and I am sure the professional shots will be absolutely stunning. Congratulations Cory & Ian!
