Sarah & Nils were married on September 10th at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor – the same day as the Michigan/Notre Dame game! It was something top of mind during the planning process with them – everyone was worried about how bad traffic might be… but it all worked out beautifully!
Sarah was an Etsy fan – and discovered someone on the site that does these awesome wedding day movie posters that were hung outside Michigan Theater. As guests arrived, they were offered popcorn and champagne prior to getting seated – it was a huge hit!
The wedding programs folded out to show cutout figures of all the players in the wedding and their relationship to Sarah & Nils. For decor, Bill Hamilton arranged two pieces on stage, while we hung pew bows and placed candles up on the stage (battery operated of course!).
I checked in on Sarah and her girls, and they were busy getting ready and taking shots of the shoes! I was absolutely in love with Sarah’s dress – it was just perfect for her!
The ceremony itself took place on stage – with the staircase stage left, that was also the aisle the bridal party used to walk down. At the rehearsal we had placed markers for everyone, so they knew exactly where to end up!
While guests had fun around Ann Arbor (there was a necessary gap because of when we had to be out of the Theater), my team as well as the lovely teams from Bill Hamilton Designs, Chair Covers and Linens, VideoMagic Productions, JLB Wedding Photography and the Killer Flamingos were busy working to make sure everything was ready for the Michigan Union reception!
The room was set up Fantasia style – each side different as if “battling” one another – both won though, it looked fantastic! The white spandex tables had LED lighting underneath them that alternated between purple and blue throughout the evening – in sync with the cocktail tables in the room that did the same. The bridal party was treated like royalty – purple goblets for their drinks and chair covers from Wildflower Linens separated them from the rest.
Yes – that is Sarah & Nils on stage!
They also brought in a caricature artist (The Nose) and Shutterbooth to entertain guests who weren’t big dancers or needed a break from the action. They had a sign-in list for guests who got their caricature done, and will be getting in touch with them to see pictures!
Sarah & Nils – it was such a pleasure helping you plan your wedding, congratulations!!!
