My summer vacation was also combined with my brother-in-law getting married, in Gettysburg, PA! Brian & Ashley are a beautiful couple, and I was excited to be able to help them pull together their wedding on July 30th – it was an awesome party!
One great thing about the wedding was setup – we got to go in the day before to set everything up at the church and the Ribbon Mill which is where the reception took place. So nice! I have very rarely been able to do that here in Michigan.
At this wedding, I did learn a very valuable lesson: I have absolutely NO desire to become a florist! I volunteered to help with flowers, and I think they turned out pretty nicely, but to worry about delivery, arrival, processing, assembling, re-ordering (when they bake in the truck all day)… no thank you!
Ashley’s bouquet was my favorite – and there was some bling added to the bottom! The flowers we used were hydrangea, roses, alstromeria, larkspur, stock, lisianthus, and hypericum berries.
They kept the cocktail hour purple and white – glasses of cheese and fruit were placed at each setting and the bar was open.
Ashley and her mom did all the paper products themselves – and they looked fantastic! I had the linens shipped from our very own Chair Covers & Linens.
The escort cards were pieces of art! The head table was served food, and everyone else went through the buffet line for dinner. Since my husband was the best man, I got to see things from the other side!
After dinner, the bar continued to be the most popular spot of the night, until the dancing got going (although there was an alcohol run involved). Once the special dances were done – the floor was packed all night!
Larkspur (the tall stuff above) is now one of my favorite flowers. I thought it was just beautiful!
The Ribbon Mill is a very cool venue – I wish Ann Arbor had something like it! At the end of the night – we had to pack everything up and get it out by midnight. Something that I have never seen before in my life happened – everyone chipped in! Linens were taken off, flowers disassembled, personal items packed up, and the room was cleared in no time!
We even have a future romance in the works between my baby Emma (who was an adorable flower girl) and the ring bearer.
Congratulations Ashley & Brian – and it was awesome seeing you this past weekend for your Michigan reception!
