Erin’s mom Gwyneth contacted me a while back about coordinating her daughter’s wedding (Erin and Nic live out of state). She started out with Day of Coordination, but ended up with much more over the last few months! TwoFoot Creative helped with vendor selection, decor assistance, etiquette advice and a few planning sessions as well to make sure everything would fall into place by Halloween. It was a very fun journey to the wedding day!
The ceremony took place at Knox Presbyterian Church in Ann Arbor, with the reception immediately following at Barton Hills Country Club. Earlier in the day, I stopped off at Fran Coy Salon to exchange some final things with Erin before heading over to Barton Hills for setup. My assistant Lia and I put together the place cards and escort card table, made sure all the decor from MPE Events was being placed correctly, went over the details with DJ Randy Parker from Mike Staff, and headed off to the church around 1:45pm!
Everything at the church went off without a hitch, and as a lovely personal touch Erin & Nic created a slideshow that played right before the bridal party walked down the aisle! Dustin Francis captured all the photographic moments of the day, while Melvin Foster took care of the videography. Once we made sure Erin was down the aisle, Lia and I headed back to Barton Hills, putting up a few signs for guests to follow on their way to the reception.
The wedding cake was created by Zingerman’s, who did such an amazing job that the first dance was delayed so the bride and groom could finish theirs before making their way to the dance floor! Another huge hit of the evening was Rock the Booth, who brought a prop box full of fun (and very Halloween appropriate) garb to create wonderful photos for guests to take home with them as well as a scrap book for the bride and groom to keep!
The most memorable moment of the day for me was the toast given by Erin. She mentioned that her mom had not had the opportunity to walk her down the aisle, and would not get to physically take part in the father/daughter dance. While saying this, she took off one of her red shoes, and told everyone about a note to her mom that was written on the bottom. That was Erin’s way of making sure that her mom was in fact there walking her down the aisle, dancing with her, and throughout every other moment of the day (cue all the tears in the room). Then, she started unwrapping her bouquet (I made sure to take off all the floral tape first!) and handed her mom 5 roses as a reminder that she was a huge part not only in the wedding, but in Erin’s life as well. It was absolutely beautiful.
Congratulations Erin & Nic on a wonderful wedding and celebration, I hope you are having so much fun on your honeymoon!
