Ann Arbor Wedding Venues: Restaurants
Gandy Dancer is one of our favorite restaurants for weddings. You have history (built in the late 1800’s, it was a passenger train station). There is fabulous food, especially seafood, and a chef willing to customize any menu (including vegetarian!). You get one of my favorite venue coordinators in Kristina – she gets in done! It also holds 150 guests for a seated dinner on the patio, or 30-50 in their private rooms inside.
Vinology in located on Main Street in Ann Arbor, which is a nice bonus! The food is great, and the wine selection is better if that’s your thing. It also boasts the gorgeous Bubble Room – which can be used for ceremonies under 100 or receptions under 60 guests. It’s draw stems from the decor – featuring glass balls hanging above the ceiling.
Mediterrano is closer to the south side of Ann Arbor, by the mall and all those conveniently located chain hotels. It has a private room (La Piazza) with it’s own private entrance. It can hold up to 85 guests for a seated dinner – fewer if you need to add in room for dancing. There is also a smaller 22-person dining room.
The Pretzel Bell recently opened up a private event space next door that they call the Captain’s Room. It holds 100 for a strolling reception, 70 seated. You can also rent out spaces inside the restaurant for groups of 14-150.
Ann Arbor Wedding Venues: Outside
Matthaei Botanical Gardens holds a special place in my heart as well as Melanie’s – we both got married there! They have several gardens to choose from, as well as chairs on-site to make for a smooth ceremony.
Kerrytown Farmers Market is such an adorable space! Due to market days being Saturday/Sunday, it is quite difficult to get everything in and out. Hiring a great planner and rental company is a must! It holds up to a few hundred, but can easily be scaled down for a small wedding.
Island Park/Greek Revival Shelter is one of the Ann Arbor Parks, and can be rented for weddings! We have done many a ceremony there, followed by a Gandy Dancer reception.
Ingalls Mall is located right on campus, and you have to have attended UM to rent the space. It is free! However, you do need to secure chairs and decor, as well as a backup space in case of rain. It is a fabulous ceremony space though!
Ann Arbor Wedding Venues: Theaters
Michigan Theater is a beautiful historic theater right downtown Ann Arbor, and it can be rented for ceremonies of any size as well as receptions. The lobby is especially beautiful and ornate!
Mendeslsohn Theater is attached to the Michigan League, and can be rented for ceremonies. Have you always dreamt of getting married on stage? This might be your spot!
The Power Center lobby and theater can be rented for events, although availability is limited due to their dozens of events per year!
Kerrytown Concert House is a smaller space in Kerrytown. It can be rented in conjunction with (but booked separately from) the Farmer’s Market for an event that flows from one space to the next.
Intimate Ann Arbor Wedding Venues: Unique Spaces
Ann Arbor Art Center is located right downtown , and provides a gorgeous backdrop for an intimate event. We have done a few weddings as well as rehearsal dinners here. One bonus – outside catering is allowed in!
Stone Chalet is a B&B in Ann Arbor that is under new ownership and available for rent. They do have a small event space, as well as plenty of room for guests to stay for a weekend long celebration!
Tea Haus is a quaint tea shop in Kerrytown that can be rented out. A high tea brunch time wedding would be fabulous here! We also see lots of showers and post-wedding brunches in this space.
