Amy and Sebastian had a lot of details for us to get done the day of their wedding, starting at 11am with my assistant and I picking up their flowers at Tantalizing Blooms and dropping them off to the girls and guys at their “getting ready” locations. The flowers looked and smelled great, the bouts were very easy to pin on (I love that!) and it was fun to get to see some of the before shots!
Their ceremony began at 1:30 at St. Isidore in Macomb. The contact there, Gerri, was wonderful to work with. Setup for the ceremony was minimal – they had a unity candle and arrangement, reserved signs for the first few pews, and programs for the groomsmen to hand out as guests walked in. The closest family members of were greeting guests at the door from the lobby into the chapel, which added such a personal touch to the ceremony.
Immediately after the ceremony, we grabbed the leftover programs, unity candle and arrangement and headed to the Imperial House to set up for the reception. Amy and Sebastian had done a lot of the work the day before, and the room ended up looking very elegant and beautiful. We set up place cards, menu cards, votives (we lit them all too), the guest book, the cake topper, flutes and some other decor brought in by the bride and groom.
We also had to make a run to Kmart across the street because the baker (I won’t name names, you will have to ask me) did not frost the top of the cake! When I called to see if they could come fix it, they told me that the baker had left and gone to bed and there was nothing they could do. So, vanilla frosting in hand, we made the top look as close as possible to the rest of the cake (the color was a tad off, but no one noticed) so that the topper would actually stick and it wouldn’t look unfinished.
Their photographer, Dionne from The Shooting Gallery (the pictures here are from her) was amazing to work with as always. She brings out the best in the people she photographs and makes you want to just jump straight into her pictures! I can’t wait to see their video from Castle Video Productions – it was great to watch Kristyn work! DJing their hand-picked music was Kevin from Rent a DJ, who was helpful as always in coordinating the grand entrance, dances, cake cutting and more throughout the reception. Amy and Sebastian had a wonderful group of vendors!
The food was very good, and the staff at the Imperial House very attentive to requests that were made. Everything flowed very smoothly – the only thing that set the timeline back was waiting for all their guests to arrive – difficult to do on the last work day before Memorial Day weekend!
We stayed until the end of the night to pack everything up and load it into Amy’s parents’ car – it was a long day but a lot of fun! Congratulations Amy and Sebastian, it was great to work with both of you!
